Thinking About Getting An iPhone 4S

I know the iPhone has the "VoiceOver" feature, which I love, having used it on my iPod NaNo (6th gen.) for about 6 months now. I'm thinking of upgrading phones from my Pantec Breeze III, which has nothing in the way of features, to an iPhone 4S. I say 4S instead of 4 or 5 because (A) 5 is not worth the money and (B) 4 doesn't have SIRI, and I find SIRI oddly adorable. Anyway, what do you guys think? If I can get one at a reasonable price (I may have a free upgrade available through my cell provider), is the iPhone 4S an okay device for this blind guy? :)

what makes you think its not worth the money?

Good choice, mate. I hope that you have success.

i'd seriously go to the 5 if you did, longer chance of support for one thing. Also keep in mind that the 5 is most likely to get future features over the 4s

Agreed with Rat. While I'm not all that impressed with the 5, I do plan to get it when I'm eligible for my upgrade. My 4 is being very sluggish. But Rat put it best. The 5 has a faster processor, and you'll have support for it longer than you will the 4S. As iOS gets bigger and more complex for the phone to handle, the 5 would be better, I think. So while it may not seem worth the outlay of money right now, I think it will be in the long run.

I suppose it depends on how much it costs. As I like to say, "I'm a career musician who refuses to compromise his standards to make more money. In short, I'm broke." So a 4S may be all I can afford, what with food and living expenses.

And that does make sense. If the price difference is too much, then yeah, 4S would be the way to go. But if you can afford the 5, I'd still say go with it. I know when my upgrade comes around, it'll be 200 for the 5, 100 for the 4S. The 200 will be harder on the pocketbook, but I think it'll end up being worth it.

If I could spare $200, then I'd definitely get the 5. But with my fiance's birthday coming up, and Yule after that, I won't have much spare change for a while.

A question for Siri users: Does VoiceOver conflict with Siri? When I click a button on my iPod, VoiceOver says the function of the button aloud. If it does so on the iPhone when I click to speak to Siri, then won't Siri get confused by the VoiceOver saying "speak button" or "dictate button" or whatever it's called?

No, it won't.

I have had my Iphone 4 S for 2 months now and I love it. It is $99 with Att. I wanted Seri so I didn't go with the 5

I think that the iPhone 4s is definitely worth the money. I had my iPhone 4s for a year now and I love it. I love siri and it is so fast.
